The class enjoyed the visit of Tom Wahle (click here for Techsploration website) on Wednesday as he spoke to the class about weather. He used many cool demonstrations that illustrated such weather phenomenon as lightening, air pressure, hurricanes, and tornadoes, among others. The students enjoyed Mr. Wahle's unique teaching methods as there was humor and audience participation throughout the presentation.
As we wrapped our brief unit on Earth Processes (earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, etc.) we look forward to moving on to weathering and erosion next.
Coming up this week, we have a brief assessment on Unit 10 in Math dealing with ordered pairs and coordinate points. In ELA, we will continue working on some practice MCAS assessments as we prepare for the actual tests coming up at the end of March. The 5th grade will be testing on Wednesday, March 21st and Monday, March 26th.
Report cards will be sent home on Monday, March 12th. Parent conferences will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday the 13th and 14th. School will be dismissed on both days at 12 noon and lunch will not be served. If you have not had the chance to return your preferred times to me for conferences, please do so.
I will be available on Tuesday, the 6th, and Thursday, the 8th, for after-school hours from 3:15pm to 4:00pm. Please be sure to provide a note if you intend to stay after.
It's good to see the blog membership growing. Nice to have more readers. Thanks.
