The Week Ahead

After an eventful week last week we are looking ahead to just as busy a one this week. Last week we got our first chance to use the new IPADs that were donated to the school over the summer. Our task was to create a presentation using Educreation that provided information on the United States Bill of Rights. The class was introduced to the IPADs and then they researched their assigned amendment. Each group completed three pages on their amendment and Mrs. Klipfel compiled them all on to one IPAD. This week we will meet with Mrs. Klipfel and record the audio portion of the presentation. What a great new tool!

This week we will again be busy with some special events. On Wednesday afternoon, Mrs, O'Leary will be taking the entire 4th and 5th grade over to the town common where they will hear from some local veterans and then they will perform some poetry and songs for the veterans of Topsfield. Please remember your permission slip.

On Thursday, Judith Steinberg will return for her second visit to work on some poetry with the class. She made a great impact with her first visit and the class is looking forward to her upcoming presentation.

On Friday afternoon, D.A.S.H. wraps up with a visit from a guest speaker, Dr. Spiers. Dr. Spiers will speak with the entire 5th grade about the challenges that he has faced since he was thrown from a horse and was paralyzed from the waist down. Perhaps surprisingly, part of his therapy is horseback riding.

I will be available for after school hours this week on Tuesday and Thursday from 3:15-4:00PM. Please remember to bring a note from home letting the office know you will be staying after. If you want to be picked up outside the Main Door please write that on your note.
